2019 has arrived and the next 12 months provides tonnes of marketing potential for online businesses. The commercial calendar is full of events and special days that businesses should jump on. Starting to plan your campaigns early can help you to stay ahead of the competition and can put you at ease closer to the time. With so much going on in 2019, we thought we’d provide a guide to some of the biggest events in the business calendar, no matter what sector you’re in!

Getting your Online Marketing Right in 2019

The commercial calendar is flooded with events and occasions that businesses can tailor their marketing efforts around. It’s never too early to start planning for these occasions, and yes, before you ask we are already thinking about Christmas! Planning has multiple benefits for your business. The more time you put into planning your online marketing, the more freedom and flexibility you have to finely tune or tweak the plan closer to the time. It goes without saying that a carefully planned and executed marketing campaign can bring you greater returns than something which has been put together last minute.

Blue Monday 😐: The third Monday in January has the unfortunate name of “Blue Monday” as it is dubbed the most depressing day of the year. Mother’s Day 👸: Mother’s Day marks the day that we celebrate our Mother’s and all the wonderful things they do for us. Mother’s Day has huge commercial potential for business of all types. Loving children search for spa days, weekend getaways, meals and so much as a way to say thank you for being their mum. Easter Weekend 🐇: Easter has different meanings to different people. Some see it as the end of winter, others celebrate the religious connotations and others use Easter as an egg-cellent time to give each other chocolaty treats. Whatever the cause, web traffic spikes at Easter. Your marketing and web content should reflect and this egg-citing time of year (that’s the last egg pun). (30th March 2019 to 2nd April 2019)

Wedding Season 👰🤵: Between May and July it is considered the Wedding season. Now we’re not saying this is the only time of year where couples tie the knot, but during these months the search volume for wedding-related results hits its highest peak. If your business falls into the wedding sector, you can’t afford to miss out on the opportunity to drive customers to your website. (May 2019 to July 2019)

Father’s Day 🤴: Father’s Day is the day that we celebrate the second half of the dynamic duos that are our parents. Father’s Day has as much marketing and sale potential as Mother’s Day. Despite the fact they usually say, “I don’t want anything”. Search volumes for dad gifts or gifts for dad are at their highest. (16th June 2019)

Festival Season 🎪: June is the start of the UK festival season running all the way through to September. With so many festivals scattered up and down the UK, there is so much potential for businesses to jump onto, getting festival goers hyped for a summer of music with festival-related content and marketing. (June 2019 to September 2019)

Back to School 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓: It can’t be all good news right! Well we suppose that depends on if you ask students or parents. UK schools start in September, and it is vital that you make the teacher and parents aware that a new term is coming. Target marketing in the lead up to the new term will help students of all ages get ready to hit the books again. (Early September 2019)

Halloween 🎃 : Halloween is no longer just a bit of a novelty. It has now overtaken Valentine’s day as a profitable commercial date in the diary. If you miss out or aren’t prepared for Halloween, the results can be terrifying. (31st October 2019)

Bonfire Night 🎆: Specific to the UK market, bonfire night has the potential for businesses who have something to offer. Do you run a local firework display, sell bonfire goodies or due you specialise in offering post-event clean-ups? Make sure you’re found first for your area. (5th November 2019)

Black Friday 🏬: Black Friday was originally an American holiday. Today however this absolute giant of commercial promise is now a permanent fixture in the British commercial calendar. Cyber Monday 💻📱: The opposite bookend to Black Friday and Thanksgiving Weekend, Cyber Monday is the last chance for shoppers to get their hands-on last-minute deals and discounts before the big day. As the name suggests this is a predominantly an online shopping event. So as important as it is to market yourself to your customers, your website must be able to keep up with the demand. Christmas 🎅: “Holidays are coming, holidays are coming!” If you sang that in your head you just confirmed that this is possibly one of the most famous Christmas marketing tools.
