As soon as the first Christmas TV adverts appear on our screens, our marketing and creative teams can’t talk about anything else! Here’s a rundown of our favourites from this year…

Our Top 5 Festive Campaigns…

1. So, the Christmas buzz around festive marketing campaigns is arguably fuelled by our number 1 choice – the John Lewis & Partners advert.

We think that their “Give a Little Love” campaign designed to celebrate and showcase kindness throughout a turbulent 2020, echoes what is so important always – but especially at the moment.

Perfectly timed to coincide with National Kindness Day, we think that this release, and the stories portrayed throughout this advert are a stroke of genius.

In true John Lewis & Partners style, their Christmas campaign goes beyond just a TV advert with a range of festive, cute, and desirable merchandise. The icing on this campaigns cake is that they have pledged to donate up to £4 million pounds to 2 partner charities – Home-Start and Fareshare.

2. Our winner is closely followed by… Tesco!

Team Netbiz love Tesco’s twist on referencing the events of this year – their “no-one deserves to be on the naughty list” message is ground-breaking.

Trying to find humour when reflecting on the year we’ve had is difficult, to say the least, but we think Tesco have truly mastered it. Their references to Covid sins such as not teaching children tricky subjects, stockpiling, and bad DIY haircuts are relatable for many.

This advert almost gives viewers a couple of minutes to reflect on 2020, finding light in what has been a dark time. The tone of this advert is perfect for the 2020 festive season – if you want a treat, you deserve it!

3. In third place it’s another classic… Coca Cola

As soon as those famous 4 words are sung on TV, we know that “the holidays are coming!”, and it’s time to put the tree up!

However, this year the famous bells were replaced with a heart-warming story of a man’s struggle to make it home to his daughter for Christmas. It sees him battle the elements on his quest to fulfil her Christmas wish with the iconic red and white truck making an appearance to guide him home!

The deep meaning behind this advert is what makes it so memorable and relatable for us – making time for those we love is the true spirit and meaning of Christmas, no matter where you are.

4. Sainsbury’s is our 4th choice!

Sainsbury’s really switched it up this year with their three-part advert collection! The “gravy song” was a hot topic of conversation in our offices…

We think that the nostalgic adverts and family stories perfectly represent the journey that food can take us on – from how certain dishes make us feel, to the memories they bring back from times gone by.

We loved this different and meaningful approach!

5. In at number 5… Chanel

A firm favourite, the glamorous “Dancing on the Moon” advert transported us to a different world – a place of festive sparkle and luxury! We love the magical feel that Chanel have conveyed through their 2020 Christmas film, it left us feeling empowered.

We think that even Chanel might have designed this decadent advert with this year’s events in mind. The main characters (Marion Cotillard and Jérémie Bélingard), dance in the moment, with the world in their shadow – implying that it’s ok to not look back, and not look forward either, but to just live and embrace the present.

So, there we have it – our festive round-up is complete, and so is our final blog of 2020!
