Managing director Ryan Yates said: “We are proud to work with and support many local businesses and venues which contribute greatly to the success of Stoke on Trent both culturally and economically. Stoke-on-Trent has a rich culture and industry and we need to showcase this to the rest of the country and indeed, the world, whilst also showing that we are a modern, booming city. 1,320 new businesses formed in the city last year and one can only imagine how much the city will benefit from being awarded the City of Culture title.”
What is the UK City of Culture Bid?
The city of culture title is awarded every four years and in addition to receiving the title, the winning city also receives £3million which is pledged by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The bid is a fantastic opportunity for Stoke on Trent as not only will it help to develop the city’s cultural sectors, but it will also attract increased business investment and tourism, whilst also creating new jobs. In fact, it is estimated that the title could attract around one million visitors from all over the world. As we are already the proud home of the pottery industry in England, the increase in tourism could be fantastic.
